We are under extreme heat alert. Toronto is sizzling! At 9:30 am the temperature already reached 30 C and factoring in the humidity if felt close to 40 C. A tall glass of iced cold coffee in a morning is my remedy for this scorching hot weather. I make my iced coffee with almond milk. I switched to it over 7 years ago and never looked back Here’s another twist; – any grocery store offers almond milk in different varieties, regular, vanilla, chocolate, sweetened and unsweetened. All delicious and you can create different flavours. OR Try your milk over frozen coffee ice cubes!
The version below is kind to your waistline (and your wallet) 🙂
Ingredients:
- 1 small espresso
- 1/2 cup of almond milk, unsweetened
- ice cubes
Directions:
- Brew a pot of espresso.
- Fill the glass with as much ice as will fit and add the cold milk.
- Add espresso and stir to combine.
- Refrigerate any leftovers for later.
Yes, we in the desert west have been hearing all about your *dramatic* heat in the east. Yawnnn. 😉 This does sound delightfully refreshing, however. Perhaps I’ll try in on our next 110-degree day (that’s around 45 to you celsius folks).
I failed to mention that my apartment doesn’t have AC… so the heat is dramatic.
Good and healthy drink!!!
Thank you!
YUM! I could literally guzzle almond milk. It’s so pure and refreshing. This looks simple yet perfect. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! My thoughts on almond milk are exactly 🙂
I tried almond milk for the first time because of my husband and I was so surprised how much I liked it, and ended up preferring it over normal milk! Whenever I’d drink a glass of milk since I was just a little kid it made me sick to my stomach so almond milk is a tasty and healthier alternative I can use now. I want to try your recipe, it’s been hot and humid here too! 🙂
Regular milk also affects me – I am glad there are alternatives. We had another crazy storm yesterday but the heat and humidity are gone now. Hope you’ll like this latte 🙂
SNAP, that’s crazy weather. I was in Toronto a few years back for a wedding and the grooms condo had no air-conditioning, we almost couldn’t bare it. I spent the whole weekend in the pool. I’ve been meaning to try some milk substitutes since I think my husband is slightly lactose intolerant. Would you use that on cereal too?
Heat & humidity without AC is quite brutal. We are finally back to normal temperatures.
Almond milk can be used just as regular milk, including baking.
This will come in handy, since Zebra Humor only exists due to caffiene.
I often have days when caffeine is fueling my existence 🙂
